One Direction singer Niall Horan in his Ray Bans
Niall Horan is one of the members of Britain most successful 'export' nowadays (also dubbed as part of the 'British Invasion' of the USA): the five-piece pop boy band One Direction. The Irish-born singer auditioned for X Factor in 2010 and that's where he met band mates Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik. Individually they weren't strong enough to go through but the judges thought they were too good to let go. Following one of the judges' Nicole Scherzinger's advice they formed a group and finished The X Factor in 3rd place.
Simon Cowell got them signed to his record label, Syco Records following their success in X Factor and the boys released their debut studio album 'Up All Night' in 2011. The album skyrocketed to number one on Billboard 200 straight after its US release. One Direction was even inducted into the Guinness World Records for becoming the first UK group to debut at No.1 in USA with a debut album.
Their second album, 'Take Me Home' followed a similar success pattern and lead them to perform their second single of the album "Little Things" at the 2012 Royal Variety Performance in the presence of HRH The Queen. One Direction's other notable achievements include two BRIT Awards and three MTV Video Music Awards. With their first stadium tour about to commence in spring 2014 the boys are definitely in for more success.
One Direction's biggest hits include: "What Makes You Beautiful", "One Thing", "Kiss You" and "Live While We're Young".
