Everything you need to know about Polarised Sunglasses
Polarised Sunglasses
Polarised sunglasses are designed to reduce glare, specifically, glare reflected on surfaces such as water, snow and glass. Glare can hinder your ability to see and can be dangerous when doing certain activities like driving. The glare can also distort objects and their true colour which can make them hard to distinguish. This is why we recommend you wear polarised sunglasses when driving or taking part in certain sports activities.
So how do Polarised lenses work?
Polarised lenses can be manufactured in a variety of ways and in a range of colourways.
Sunlight can hinder our vision when doing day to day tasks, this is because sunlight can be reflected in several directions and the UV rays can then bounce off horizontal surfaces such as water, land or the hood of the car. This is where Polarised lenses help. Polarised lenses contain a laminated filter that allows only vertically oriented light to pass through. This blocks the horizontal light so the amount of glare reaching your eyes is reduced.
Darker colours provide the highest levels of polarisation, so the most popular colours for polarised lenses are grey and brown, however green and yellow are also common colourways.
